Away tomorrow!

Had a nasty experience yesterday. It started when I decided to eat outside in the Uni green, what with it being a nice sunny day and all. Sat there on the bench, tucking into my sandwich, I felt calm and peaceful, and happy. Then, I look to my right and there by the bench is this enourmous squashed rat festering away. Ugh! I hurridly picked up my things and vacated the bench, but as I was leaving, another rat bounced along the path in front of me! Can't say I'm surp[rised, what with the amount of food which gets thrown around in this place, but still, thats pretty gross.
And also a wonderful experience yesterday. It didn't really dawn on me until late on that yesterday was probably the first day of spring. It just seemed like the first time in too long that the sun had come out and it hadn't been freezing. I popped out after my dinner to buy a paper, and noticed that the sky was still bright and the air still warm. I suddenly felt like skipping around and yelping. I didn't, it would have made me look like a complete tool, and I don't want people to know that I am! But still, woohoo, spring is here!

Ok well, I've finished my lectures for the term as well now. The last practical was a drag as well, I was sleepy and couldn't concentrate on the task in hand- geological folding using stereonets. Which was bad as this was one of the hardest mapping tasks yet. So I left to clear my head. I will try to finish the rest after this.
And I still have to pack! Shiiiit! There is a checklist for the essentials, including stuff I haven't seen since freshers week, which will need to be recovered from the jungle of my room. I have to be up outside the union with all my stuff at 9am sharp. I'm meeting up with Emma before, but she warned me that she is often ill on long bus journeys, so I'm not sitting with her!
The trip itself is up to Perth in Scotland. We will be going for 7 days and staying in chalets of four or five. The whole thing cost £45, plus £50 deposit in case we trash it. But the guys I'm with are pretty sensible, so thats unlikely. So yeah should be great. Was told last week that there was terrible snow up there, but hopefully some will have melted by the time we get there.
So yeah, should be fun. Will report back when I return to Manchester, and then after that its off back home woohoo! Ahhh, home sweet home, back to the outstanding natural beauty and cultural wonderland of Cramlington, that paradise of diversity and roundabouts. Ok so Cramlington ain't great, but it will still be great to see the family and everyone else again.
Ok got to go now, got stuff to do! Byeeee!

My iPod has Amnesia...

Its true. The stupid thing started stalling when I tried to select songs the other week. Then one day it froze up completely and subsequently wiped my entire song collection.
'Nooooooooo', I thought, 'how will I survive without my music collection?'

Ok as it turned out, but then I rebooted it the other day and now its working fine again. I have spent most of the evening gorging myself on 70s rock from Electric Light Orchestra, Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac. Ah the mysteries of machines. They are so random sometimes.

There are a lot of homeless people in manchester, and for some reason they all seem to congregate along Oxford Road and Wilmslow Road, and there's at least three who are commonly seen in Fallowfield, even though this is miles from the city centre. My point is that these are all student-y type areas. Clearly we must be a soft touch with homeless people and be more generous, its not like the rest of the city centre get asked for change at least 10 times a day. Last night, a tramp even asked me for some spare change in my dream. How scary is that? They have invaded my subconscious!

Oh and another thing. When is the flippin weather going to warm up? I have spent at least half of Feb and March being flaked in the face by snow which has never even come vaguely close to settling. But its been consistently cold, even though we are now well into March, when is the weather gonna warm. I don't care if it rains as long as its warm rain! On the upside, there is still some snow on the peaks in the distance, in looks very pretty on a clear day when you look out of the top of the tower. Ii will have to visit there someday again.

Ooo, ooo, has anyone ever played balderdash before? Its a game where you guess the meaning of a word or acronym or the plot of a film amongst definitions that the other contestants have made up. Had a hilarious time, some people used their definitions etc to take the mick out of others, and a reccuring theme involving political turmoil in Denmark cropped up. This doesn't sound as funny as it was, it was a great evening.

Oh yeah, its nearly the end of term already. Blimey! Unbelievable, it only seems a couple of weeks since the exams ended. And this is my last week in uni, next week I'm off on a field trip with my course. More of that when I next post I guess.

Being Watched :O

Ok so its been a month since the last update. I've no excuse whatsoever to be honest, there just really hasn't been all that much to write about, other than odd random events, but nothing to write home about. But here's an update- better late than never. :D

Except that its not really an update. More of a rant. Ok confession, I deleted the aforementioned post because it was rubbish and old. So here's a rant instead. Its about those TV licence people. They have been sending threatening letters to everyone living in the halls all year. Apparently we all have to pay up our licence fees.

Except that not everyone has a TV. For example me. Its really getting on my nerves now, I recently recieved about the eighth threatening letter in my inbox of the year. They have been getting stronger in tone, and each one making promises and threats of a visit from the enforcement officers and dire fines. Which I would understand if I had a TV, but I don't! Agh, if you are coming to inspect Little Court, get on with it! And stop getting my hopes up by giving me mail in my box, I always hope it will be something good, only to have those hopes dashed by another dark threat!

Oh and speaking of TVs, some bastards have nicked most of the TV equipment in Little 7's common room. This isn't equipment belonging to the halls by the way, this is stuff we all chipped in for at the beginning of the year. They stole our freeview box, TV lead and remote. Which basically just leaves a TV set with no signal. So no TV. Give it back you bastards!

Well that is that. Actually I feel much better. Maybe I'll write another one soon...
