Show me the skittles!

Hey the thing works.

Ahhh its a satisfying feeling knowing everything is done. Its a good job too seeing as how its Christmas Eve and everywhere is closed. Oh yeah except Mum's pressie, but that shouldn't take 10 mins. Then its relax and play Trivial Pursuit, or if Dad gets his way, watch 'Its a Wonderful Life'. Awwwwww yeah it makes me all nostalgic.

Wasn't looking too good yesterday though. Left my pressie buying till the last minute which was rather silly. Had seen a program on telly the night before about why blokes tend to leave it all till the last minute. Aparently its to do with us traditionally being the hunters, so our shopping is done with one throw of the spear, so to speak. Which is all very well but I'm sure prehistoric man didn't have much of a choice when it came to spearing his prey. It was probably a choice between a buffalo and a wooly mammoth, unlike shopping in Newcastle which boggles the mind. Eventually Mum told me what she wanted and I bought really safe predictable stuff for everyone else. Still, I'm sure they will all still be well appreciated.

Mum keeps going on about how this Christmas is more special because I have been away, but to be honest it feels like I haven't left at all. Everything seems so normal. I even popped into School for a certificate awards evening, which featured two boring speeches, amazingly neither courtesy of Mr Wise, which has to be a first. And then later at the pub Kris made me laugh while I was gulping some beer- it wasn't pretty.

Ok well have to go as Mum wants us all to play fish, fruit and flower, and the cat just jumped on the keyboard. Hope everyone has a good Christmas.

Heavy Load

Just a quick post to say I'm going home now, goodbye Manchester! For a month or so anyways. But Jimbob will return... in a Volvo! Yes my Mum has volunteered to take me back and inspect the room, which caused a bit of panic as the floor is crunchier than an Owen's Park potato!

But today I take the train. To get all the bags to Piccadilly will be an effort, which is why I am setting off early. I have 4 bags and a suitcase all stuffed full of rubbish. I feel like a beast of burden. I just goes to show that my packing SUCKS! Ok time to go.

Nearly there!

Ok I think that makes one day left after this. All I have now is a lecture on Material Worlds, and then one tomorrow on Earth Systems and Processes. Ah geography. Tests went... erm pretty shite I think. One was looking at a slide specimen of a rock and you were supposed to find 5 major types of rock in the slide- at least two of the ones I wrote were guesses because plenty of them looked alike. The multi choice was ok I think. Easyish. Although I haven't got the results back yet. Refused to hand in my Sea Level essay because I forgot to reference it. I will do that tonight.

Oh yeah and good ole Simon Robinson (my geog tutor) has set a lovely 'mini dissertation' for over christmas. Scrooge! Ok so its really just data interpretation to be written as a report, and the subject matter is pretty interesting. But hey, its the season of goodwill, leave us alone.

Oh yeah, and I had a panic last night when a mate on the course told me I should have signed up for next semesters topics ages ago. No one told me about it! Not fair! So thats something else to do.

Other than that, its cleanup time. My bdroom is horrid, to say the least. Work is strewn everywhere and the place is full of clutter. I am disgusted looking at it and I live in it! So fun shall be had. I have to take a lot of stuff home over Christmas, so packing is not going to be easy.

Ok, attempt at self analysis here. I have noticed my use of this blog has gone from being a joke at the beginning for the benefit of others, to a method of keeping in touch, to it now being written mainly for me. I use this to record where my mind is at at a certain point. Ok that sounds pretentious. Erm its just something I noticed without even realising before.

Well I've run out of things to say, which I'll no doubt kick myself for in 10 mins, but until then...

Do they know its Christmas Time?

Ahhhhhh two lovely exams for tomorrow. Enough to warm the heart. Or not! You bastards, we have more exams after Christmas anyways, whats the point in these? i'll tell you- absolutely none!

Ok raj over. Actually one is open book anyway so I can't really complain. I had just envisaged a nice drunken send off week, though the work will make going home seem special. Talking to Mum on the phone, it did dawn on us that this Christmas will seem more special than the others because of the seperation. I am ready for home now- the food has gone downhill, the vandalism is beyond a joke now (some pillock broke one of the fire detectors and we are all getting fined for it) and I need a hug.

Ok there is plenty of stuff to look forward to. There's the Christmas bop on Friday, and seeing the whole family again. Going to see Coldplay (so snide comments pls) with Kris on Sunday and then see the rest of the yeargroup again on Monday, which ought to be rather cool.

ok thats it I can't be arsed to do a proper post at the mo. I have to get lunch.

*grins*

Woohoo that was the last palaeontology lecture of the year. Yipee Dr Nudds hasn't set any for next week. This means Friday next week will be such a doddle- only one hour of lectures all day! Awww but thats not to say i don't enjoy the course, it is fascinating. I became aquainted with sea lillies:

aww aren't they cute? :D

But they dominated the oceans in the Cambrian period.

so don't let looks deceive! Oh yeah, has anyone else been watching "Space Cadets"? It will be so amazing if they manage to pull off that stunt. To be honest I think they will, just because of people's faith that TV tells the truth! Oh yeah, and they picked some gullible characters. I hope it works.

Ok I'll just leave this here.

number 30

ooooo this is my 30th post, and every one of them is a badly written pile of something. K I'm not in the mood for making sense today. Or maybe I am, I haven't decided.

Ok well this week's been just like every other, except less drinking and more work. Not that the rest of corridor has let up. Little Court 7 is by far the most filthy, revolting place in Owen's Park. There were food fights on Monday night, tuesday morning the common room had egg up the walls. Yesterday, for a laugh John, one of the guys up the corridor threw a yoghurt at Dave in the common room. It missed and instead it was splattered all over the door. I asked if he was going to clean it up. He looked at me like I was a freak and said 'the cleaners will do it'. Great. Its true they did, but I reckon their patience will run out. At first it was funny to be in with such a fine array of nutters, but it gets a bit much after a while. The alarm was set off five times last night. Thats gotta be a record!

There was one funny incident, involving Chris and his long hair. Everyone was going on at him to get it styled, and eventually he gave in and let Molly and Ben have a go. And at first they tried to cut it into a mullet. And got a bit too scissor happy. So then they gave him shaved sides and shorter on top. Chris was not pleased. Eventually they shaved the lot. he looks a lot better. It was so funny at the time though, I don't do it justice here.

So like i said, not much else going on except Little 7 insanity, but loads coming up next week. There's about three different Christmas shindigs and the train hike to Glossop. Heehee I LOVE train hikes why aren't there more? And tomorrow/later today there is the Bop which this week is a Disney theme. Should be interesting. Kerry is going as Snow White and wants me to be one of her dwarves. :D Interesting, but not sure if they'll allow pickaxes inside :-/

Ok well that did sorta make sense. yay!

wake up!

Hi all sorry about a lack of update. Just that I keep trying to start one, only to give up because of it sounding dreadful, and there was nothing much to write about.

Ok well there are a few things anyways. The work which i have managed to avoid with considerable skill over the last 10 weeks finally caught up with me, and so much of last week was spent working, or more accurately fretting over work. Anyways finally got the chunk of geology coursework completed (phew) so thats a weight off my mind. Just the Geog essay on climate change and a nice fat ICT package in for Wednesday. Which is gonna be so much fun.

Oh yeah my Aunt has hairy cell leukaemia. Apparently its the best kind you can get (if you can say that about leukaemia). Its not urgent, normally it occurs in old people who die of something else before it affects them too much, but she will still need chemo after christmas, not a pleasant experience. Its not nice to see someone you are close to seriously ill. The last time I was Grandma and Grandad but I was only about 6 when they became ill and 8 when they died. Not that it didn't hurt of course, but I guess it didn't all sink in back then. I hope she gets better.

Oh yeah had a long chat with Stacey for the first time in 2 weeks. she still wants to be friends after all. The conversation tone however was joking hostility, which is really thinly veiled actual hostility. I think we both need more time to calm down, but hey, if she wants to stay friends, I owe it to her.

Went on another hike yesterday. This time up to Ambleside in the Lakes. Wasn't nearly as nice as last week because we got the arse end of Lakes weather i.e. cold rain. But still beautiful, always nice to get out there.

Bop was a drunken blur. I danced. Enough said :o

Not wanting to sound like a scrooge or anything but it would be great if Christmas put itself back a bit, I've run out of money and can't afford pressies. Ok that sounds a bit drastic, but seriously, where did it all go????? Here money money money...
