Slight Return

I'm coming hooooooome! (but just for a short while...)

Well I'm off home tomorrow. Don't know why that is a point of note but really there has been little else happening of note at the moment, apart from watching all the people in fancy dress tonight. Some of them are really impressive, with obviously a lot of effort being put into costumes. The lads were mucking around in the kitchen with "blood"- food colouring. The kitchen is now a mess. :D But the guys looked great. Theres another posse all wearing green afros.

Last week saw some shaving foam related shenanigans. After foaming Rhys in the face while he was asleep, me and John wrote swear words on Joe and Chris' door. So funny and mature. We also cling filmed Dave's doorway while he was asleep :D Dave has sworn revenge, but he has gone home for the week, as have most of the corridor, so theres really nothing happening at the mo.

It was great to get an extra hour in bed on Sunday and not feel guilty about wasting the day, but on the downside, its so dark now. Definitely the last breath of the summer, its rather depressing to think we won't get decent days again until about April. Humph :(

Ah well back to the old Crameltonia tomorrow. Can't say I missed it but I missed the gang a bit so thats something to look forward to. That concludes this entry I believe.

Corpse Bride

Yeah, t'was rather a laugh really. Again. Yet another animation with voicing by Helena Bonham Carter. Must be a phase or something. Anyways animation was a bit creepy, and altogether a really sweet sort of weirdo movie. Awwwwww. Stacey was in a rather funny mood today.

Dude it was so nice to see the family again. They didn't even nag! And they paid for a meal on the Curry Mile and we relived the good times. Awwww everthing is so sweet at the moment. Yeah, just like one of those cheesy old soap operas. Happy days. Mostly.

The Heavens Open

Hi everyone, I'm taking shelter in the computer cluster until the rain decides to ease off a bit. The rain at the moment could be descrided as 'monsoon', with the water pooling up everywhere outside. Makes me feel kinda cozy and safe being in here when there are poor sods outside being drenched. :D However, before anyone *cough* tomo *cough* says anything about Manchester being the wettest city, it is worth noting that plenty of cities get more rainfall, particularly a cetain Scottish city beginning with a G. :))))))))))

Anyways enough gloating. Today has been a very slow day with not a lot happening. I have no lectures or practicals on a Tuesday so I took the opportunity to clear out my room a bit and do other chores. This is because the family are coming over to pay a visit and I don't want them to see the squalor (well its not that bad). I'm quite excited, this is the first time I've seen them since Sept 19th. They were meant to be here about now, but had a traffic jam and so will be another 2 hours or so. Am looking forward to showing Tom and Alex around as they haven't seen my place yet, and Mum and Dad have offered to take me out for a curry. :)

And then I'll probably see them again soon, as its reading week next week so I'm coming home, although when exactly I'm not sure as some of the bastard lecturers have set lectures, including Dr Droop who set one at 9 on Mon (the sicko). Still, I'll have a chance to see the gang back home.

Ok so what else has been going on? Its been a funny sort of week. Last night there was a fire in one of the halls at about 1am. I had been asleep, but never one to miss a fire, ran out with Dave and Joe in my dressing gown in the pouring rain to watch. Only when we got there it had already been put out.

Last Monday was 5th Avenue club night and was probably the best night yet, with loads of people from the corridor going and some classy choons being played. Felt euphoric afterwards. Drugs? Pah who needs em?

Chris managed to lose his cash and library cards on Wednesday and we spent 2 hrs retracing his footsteps to no avail. He then rang up to cancel his cards. At 3 am he knocked on my door. He had found his cards on his bedroom floor. What a pratt. After he had gone, I slammed my door to shut it but forgot to remove my hand in time, so now one of my nails is purple.

Friday was not a good day. Pulled a Tomo in the morning and slept through the alarm, missing the first lecture. Then found out that there was another module I had in Earth and Atmospheric Systems, which I thought was next semester, but in fact started in week 1. So I had missed the first 3 lectures. oops :0

On Saturday the whole corridor went en masse to a Chinese buffet restaurant (cheers Jacky B!) and there was gluttony on a grand scale. Not bad for a tenner.

Sunday saw a hike. Now although I joined the Hiking club at the beginning of the semseter, I have only been once with them before. At the weekend we were driven to the Lakes and I joined the group climbing Blencathra. The hill itself wasn't too bad, but there was a section which scared the shit out of me, and just about everyone else. This was Sharp Edge, and then the scramble, which should hopefully appear on the picture:

Anyways the rocks were wet and so slippery, and the drops nearly sheer. Felt terrified at several points that my feet would slip out of the holds.

Ok that is all. Hope everyone is fine. :D

Saucy!

Hi people feeling much better today. Alarm hasn't gone off since Friday night and that was only once woohoo. Things are looking up. Can't be too long I have work to do (if you count producing TWO boring bibliographies [not actual work, bibliographies] as work). Anyways Sundays are always the chore days. Washing, tidying up, food supplies (my room is like a fruit bowl!) Hmmm emerged this morning to find my door smeared in mayonaise. There were sauces splattered all down the stairs and corridor. From what I can gather, last night saw the great sauce wars between the bolognaises and the mayonaises. I am miffed for two reasons: one, that I missed out on such an event and two, because the cleaners don't work on a Sunday soo unless someone cleans it up the place is a skanky mess 'till Monday morning. Damnit.

Has anyone seen the new Wallace and Gromit film yet? Saw it with Stacey. Its great. Spent the entire film sitting through with a grin. Not sure that Stacey was so impressed bless her. Just some genius moments, such as when Gromit puts the radio on and 'Bright Eyes' comes on. :D Well worth the wait.

Byeeeee ::::::)

Humbled

Ok just read back my last two posts and they are rite whingey. Have no real right to whinge. Happy life etc. I apologise. There are peeps with far worse to worry about, such as those in Pakistan.

Hmmm yeah not really been a great year in terms of natural disasters- tsunami, New Orleans and now this. Shiiiiit. Ok got to get more beer. I feel the cold fingers of sobriety.

Brain Rot O_O

Agggghhhh I watched too much shit TV and now my brain is turning to mush. Earlier on it was diagnosis murder and just now I actually voluntarily watched Hollyoaks. Help meeeeeeeeee!

Ok its not my fault I'm just trying to be sociable. I mean, everyone watches the damned programmes. What is the world coming to? I tried to find escape in the computer cluster but now I'm reading shite and trying to hold my breath cos the guy next to me has BO.

Wooo I'm drunk. Hehehe

An Alarming Development

Ok, I understand that living in a hall, the fire alarm going off on the odd occasion is par for the course, but honestly, three times in a night??? These people are sick! Not content with setting it off at two, just as I was nodding off, it went off again at 5 and 6. Not to mention that this is the fourth night running that it has gone off. >:(

Agh I'm so drowsy today, just sat through an especially boring practical which didn't help. Its not that I don't like the subject content, its that the lecturer, Dr Droop is the sort of guy who could make an alien invasion seem mundane. Ugh. I'm sure the fire alarm could be classified as a cruel and unusal form of punishment if used in a prison. I'd try and sleep through it but this is simply not possible without copious amounts of alcohol. Bugger! Oh well better get drinking. :D

Bye :)

Part Deux

Hi everyone, yes I know I said I'd write the next day and now it's taken a week to get going, but what can I say, they disrupted my 'flow'. I mean I'm not sure about others but getting started on a blog always seems like a bit of an effort, I start to write something, only to read it back and think "oh that's bollocks". And then give up. Of course once I get going, I don't care what bollocks I write. So enough with the excuses anyways, and if this is bollocks then I'm afraid this is just what goes through my head sometimes (along with gamma radiation). Oh yeah fresher's ball was rubbish apparently. heeheehee.

Well, I'm getting well settled into life away from home now. In a way. I mean organisation wise I still have a bit of a way to go. The course I am doing has been great so far, at least the bits I have attended. Basically the entire Geography side of my timetable is a mess, so I have turned up late for one lecture owing to the room being wrong, missed another entirely (so I heard later) after being told that the lecture was cancelled, and am currently questioning whether my other Geog module even exists. So time to pay a visit to the course tutor tomorrow. He seems like a friendly sort of chap.
I am making headway though. Typed up all of the weeks notes earlier so that I understand them more. Bought a planner so no more Mr Disorganised (I hope).
They did lay on a field trip during freshers week, to the Peak District to look at a landslip and examples of fossils. It was great because the group didn't really know what the lecturers were talking about, but we mucked along anyway. Was a grand day out.
Never eat a raw chilli, no matter how drunk you are because it is a painful experience.
Speaking of getting out into the countryside, I joined the hiking club and we took a hike up into the Pennines yesterday. It was a gentle walk but the wind at the top of one of the ridges... unbelievable, some of us could barely stand. Its great just to get out of the city sometimes because much as Manchester is a cracking place, the fresh air and scenery is pretty important to me. Plus its exercise and the guy leading us all yesterday has invited us for a party next week where he will be showing us all his 'special brew'. Classy.
As for my block, there has been a few moment of madness so far. One was waterbombing random people from the top floor of our block. We did this for several nights using free condoms (I have none left now!) and plastic bags. Security got wind of this and on the third night, they snuck up to catch us in the act. Luckily I escaped as I had chosen that moment to visit the toilet. However, the guy let the others off anyway heehee. Also played a fair few drinking games in the common room. One night this led to drinking a cocktail of whiskey, vodka, red square and longlife milk, which was extremely revolting. Then we pushed each other around the top floor in a shopping trolley which was very entertaining.
Also had a couple of good nights out at this indie club called 5th Avenue. The floor is always packed but they play the classics. Why wasn't there anything like this in Newcastle? Actually there was but there was never anyone to go with. :( Finally made it to the famous Friday 'Bop' only to find it was shit. Left early to be sick. The alarm went off that night at about 2.00 but I was so drunk I didn't get up!
I have taken to giving lunch a miss, as it is not included in the catering in my hall. Don't really mourn it. It saves money :D Recently I have become a cheapskate, taking advantage of all the freebies and bargins. I guess it's important if I want to avoid too much debts. Even so, the amount of money everyone seems to get through is pretty scary.
Right thats my lot for tonight. Hope everyone is well. Down here everyone isn't, I think I gave everyone my flu because now coughs echo round the computer room. Down at the chemists, they have sold out of Kleenex!
Goonight :))
